World Day for Safety & Health at Work; Why It Matters

A yellow sign with Safety First written on it

Along with the entire Rotom group, we recently celebrated World Day for Safety & Health at Work, a global reminder that safe, healthy workplaces aren’t a luxury; they’re a right.

It’s a day that resonates with us here at Kingsbury as health and safety remain our top priority,

In an industry like ours, where physical work is at the heart of everything we do, safety isn’t something we talk about once a year. It’s something we think about every single day, in the yard, in the workshops and across every part of our operation.

We’re proud to say that we walk the walk when it comes to workplace safety. That means ensuring our team has the right equipment, training, and environment to do their jobs safely and confidently. It also means creating a culture where people feel comfortable raising concerns, because a near miss reported is an accident prevented.

We also believe that doing the right thing extends beyond our own four walls. That’s why we regularly donate used safety equipment, including PPE,  to The Salvation Army and individuals who need it. Good-quality protective equipment shouldn’t go to waste if it can still protect someone, and we’d rather see it put to good use than end up in a skip.

As one of Europe’s leading pallet pooling specialists, Rotom runs a cutting-edge Safety Program that is committed to investing in automated systems to reduce manual handling, maintaining high-quality machinery, and embedding a positive safety and health culture. We are proud to be part of this movement. You can read more about our programme here.

And, finally, to everyone who works with us, thank you! Thank you for taking safety seriously, for looking out for each other, and for being part of a business that genuinely cares about getting this right. You’re the reason we keep pushing to do better.

And to our customers and partners, if you have ever used safety equipment that’s no longer needed, get in touch. We’d love to help it find a new home where it can still make a difference.

Here’s to safer workplaces, today and every day.
