Christmas Opening Times – We will close at 1:00 p.m. on Christmas Eve and reopen on Friday 2nd January 2026 – when our regular working hours will resume.

Sustainability

Sustainability is the key aim for our business, and this, in turn, helps our customers and waste management partners move towards net zero.

Sustainability by Design

In 2021, we moved into our brand-new, purpose-built site specifically designed to increase the re-use of timber pallets and packaging in the most sustainable way possible.

Our new site uses Renewable Energy to power all these aspects of our operations:

Pallets & Sustainability

Pallets and packaging that arrive at our site are booked in via a tablet reporting system which will detail all the elements required for your reporting needs. This report is automatically exported to the office and can be provided to our customers & waste management partners accurately and on time.

Each pallet will journey through our site, where the most sustainable option will be selected for the pallet to help protect and reuse our packaging resources. If the pallet is a 1200×1000 or 1200×800 pallet, it will be fed through our state-of-the-art modern pallet sortation and repair line, enabling our operator to grade the good pallets by type & specification. The good pallets are then transferred to stock in our 4-acre storage yard. The pallets for repair are automatically transferred to our repair line, where our operators will repair the pallet using recovered pallet boards from redundant or odd-sized pallets. These repaired pallets are then automatically transferred to stock.

Pallets that are non-standard size will be graded for either re-use if possible or alternatively moved to our purpose-built recovery building where they will be disassembled to re-use the individual timber components in pallet repair and new life pallets. The remaining residue that cannot be economically re-used will pass into our recycling building, where it will be processed into Grade A recycled wood chips for use in animal bedding products and biomass.

Energy Efficiency

Our new site incorporates a 100kW solar scheme that powers our site and our recycling line replacing our previous fossil fuel-powered system. Since our site became operational in April 2021, we have saved over 42,000 kg of CO2 emissions – the equivalent of over 2,500 trees planted by the summer of 2023. The figure is rising every day, and with every pallet we process.

We have also incorporated energy-efficient heating and cooling and energy-efficient lighting powered by our renewable solar installation.

Pallets are loaded and unloaded and moved around our site using electric forklift trucks that are charged via solar installation – again reducing our reliance on fossil fuel-powered trucks.

To complete our sustainable goals, we have also installed electric car charging points and cycle shelters for sustainable travel options for our staff.

Make Sustainability Simpler

We aim to play our part in the global circular economy, and our sustainably focussed objectives will help our customers and waste management partners conserve our valuable resources through re-use. We will do this by focusing on sustainable objectives, investment in the most efficient pallet handling systems and the re-use of timber pallets and timber components.
