How Used Pallets Are Changing Efficiency Levels

We all want to reduce costs, improve operational efficiency and achieve our sustainability objectives, don’t we?

We take our operational efficiency extremely seriously at Kingsbury Pallets, and we are committed to passing these benefits on to our customers to support their cost savings and sustainability. We are excited to share the latest white paper by the Rotom Group.

It explores how services such as valuation, repair, and resale of used logistics packaging can generate tangible value for your business and how you can optimise warehouse space, lower environmental fees, reduce CO₂ emissions, and extend the lifecycle of your pallets.

At Kingsbury, our state-of-the-art modern pallet sortation and repair line means that every pallet received is logged in and graded. The good pallets are transferred into our current stock, and any pallets that require repair are automatically transferred to our repair line. All of our pallet repairs are made using recovered pallet boards from redundant or odd-sized pallets. Once fixed, they are returned to the current stock and used again.

Rotom’s white paper examines trends in the European pallet market, where used pallets now account for 40% of the market. While new EPAL-certified pallets remain the gold standard for safety and quality, due to strict requirements on wood quality, nail count, and drying values, the growing demand for certified, high-quality used pallets shows that businesses are increasingly looking to balance compliance with cost-effectiveness.

The white paper examines how the logistics, retail and delivery sectors can benefit from reusing pallets and the impacts even small changes can have on the environment. One of the most powerful insights is how collaborative reuse models are making this possible and reducing what has traditionally been seen as ‘waste’.

From oThumbnail image of the Efficiency white paper by Rotom ur experience at Kingsbury Pallets, we know that by combining quality assurance with smart logistics and systems, companies can lower emissions, reduce waste, and meet sustainability targets without compromising operational performance.
