On July 24th 2025, it was Earth Overshoot Day.
This means that it is the day when the use of the world’s natural resources exceeds what the Earth can regenerate in a given year. In 2024, this day fell on August 1. This day is, of course, a significant reminder of the fragility of our planet and how we all need to take responsibility to not take our resources for granted.
As part of the Rotom Group, and our unwavering commitment to sustainability and looking after our planet, we took the moment to reflect on our Group’s sustainability goals:
- Renewable Energy: We aim to source 50% of our energy from renewable sources by generating energy from solar panels across our locations.
- Circular Economy: We make use of recycled materials and focus on the reuse, rental, and pooling of load carriers to help reduce waste and minimise our carbon footprint.
- Sustainable Sourcing: By 2025, all our production facilities will be PEFC certified, ensuring that the timber we use comes from responsibly managed forests.
- Carbon Reduction: We are committed to a 30% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030, as part of our ongoing efforts to meet global climate targets.
Since moving into our brand-new, purpose-built site in 2021, we have been specifically designing our processes to increase the reuse of timber pallets and packaging in the most sustainable way possible. At Kingsbury Pallets, we recognise the importance of taking action. We remain focused on improving sustainability across the group, consistently striving to lead the way in reducing our environmental impact and setting a positive example.
Through ongoing collaboration and support from the Rotom Group, and our continued dedication, we aim to help ensure a more sustainable future, with the goal of delaying Earth Overshoot Day in the years ahead.
